How do you identify your primary photographic style?

How do you identify your primary photographic style?

I would consider both our photographic and video style to be storytelling... We capture every aspect of your special day! Everything from the details of the wedding dress to the gorgeous decorations and flowers you spent a lot of time deciding on! Our emphasis is on capturing the emotions shared by you and your guests, but also making sure those must have traditional photos are taken as well. As a photographer, there are points in the day where we have to take charge and make sure that the group photos that the couple wants happen, but beyond that the photographer and the videographer like to be more in the background as much as possible. We do not want to be the center focus of your event because you are the stars!

Which lighting situations do you have experience with?

Which lighting situations do you have experience with?

We've experienced almost every lighting situation imaginable... and have been trained in all kinds of ways to deal with them. This is probably one of the most important questions to ask your photographer! Do they know how to use additional lighting properly? While cameras on the market keep getting better for shooting in available light there are still situations where knowing how to use a flash and/or studio lighting would absolutely be needed. Some of these situations are, but not limited to: a dark church with little or no overhead lighting, a venue with a picture window (must know how to expose for the people inside and also to view the scenery outside, sometimes still not possible to do depending on the situation), dark reception halls with no windows and high ceilings... and creative night time scenes with outside lights and/or sparklers. Make sure the photographer shows you a wide arrangement of work both indoors and out. If they only show you outdoor daytime weddings there's probably a reason for that and that reason is because they don't know how to modify light which is a key essential to being a professional.

How many photographers do you work with?

How many photographers do you work with?

There are packages for one or two photographers. I am confident enough in my abilities that if I am hired by myself to photograph your wedding that every aspect of your wedding will be covered. A typical six-hour wedding yields approx. 1000 to 1200 images when I am alone. By picking a package with more than one photographer you will get more candid shots and different angles of every event and approx. 1500 to 2500 images. Second photographers are also great if the bride & groom are getting ready at separate locations with a limited time-frame as it's impossible for one person to be in two places at once. For video packages additional cameramen can also be booked which means there will be more camera angles of your event to choose from and more camera angles equals more of a Hollywood style video.

Do you have a replacement photographer / videographer in case you become unavailable on the wedding day?

Do you have a replacement photographer / videographer in case you become unavailable on the wedding day?

We have a list of professionals that we would go through to find someone of the same skill level to cover your event should a back-up photographer be needed. We have also never missed a wedding in the 23 years that we have been in business! We understand that for most couples this is a once in a lifetime event and we treat each event like it was our own.

What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?

What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?

I'm a Canon gal! I have three Canon still camera bodies ranging from my high end Mark III to my new Canon R6 (and we're always upgrading). Our video cameras are also Canon as well and we use 2 - Canon XA20s on a regular basis... Our 2nd shooters always have at least two camera bodies on them as well. I have multiple flash systems in case of failure of one or for multiple lighting techniques. Multiple lenses for different looks and other random camera photography gadgets too numerous to write out!

We also always bring at least one back-up to each and every event we are covering because equipment can and will fail. Having been in this business for over two decades I have seen my fair share of equipment failures, but my clients never know because I always have back-up gear for each and every situation.

Do you require a meal break? If yes, do you require that the wedding party provide your meal?

For any wedding package that is 6 hours and over we require that we are included in your guest count for food... With that being said it doesn't mean that we will be making 5 trips to the buffet line or that we need the expensive plated prime rib. It just means that we like to have a little nourishment to sustain us through a long day. We prefer to have our dinner service at the same time as you and the wedding party's food so that we can keep up with the events going on. I have never seen anyone who likes photos of themselves chewing food... so if we take a break when you do, we will be ready to get up and go as soon as the action starts happening again.

How soon after the event are the photos and video ready for viewing?

How soon after the event are the photos and video ready for viewing?

All photographs and video go through a complete process of editing following the event. Photos are color and exposure corrected if needed, cropped and some limited retouch is done to the photographs. For video we use multiple camera angles and edit them into one complete movie along with added titles, transitions and music for the most cinematic film we can create. This does take some time, but we pride ourselves on a normal quick turnaround time of 4-6 weeks. (2-3 Weeks may be added on at the end of Summer going into Fall, but if that's needed we will let you know at the end of your wedding day).

In over 23 years of business we have never delivered a wedding past six weeks. It came close this past fall due to the sheer amount of events we covered, but we always keep our clients updated and still delivered on time. Because of the volume of work that we do and the quality and care that we put into editing we do not provide sneak peeks, but you also won't be waiting four months or longer for your images.

How long can the couple keep the proofs? And do you retain the copyright for the photos?

How long can the couple keep the proofs? And do you retain the copyright for the photos?

With digital imaging, gone are the days of physical print proofs. We do all of our wedding proofing of images on the web. Each couple does get a copy of all of their high resolution digital images with a limited copyright release for personal use so that you will be able to make all of your own prints if you so choose. We do also technically keep the copyright of all the images and video that we take forever. So all rights for publications and commercial use are ours only. If you would like to use on of our images for commercial advertising whether it's for a headshot, to promote your services, venue, etc. please reach out to us so that we can work out an agreement.

Do you reserve the right to publish the photos and video?

Do you reserve the right to publish the photos and video?

Yes, unless for some reason the couple requests beforehand that they not be used for publication and that is added into our contract. It is usually very exciting for our clients to see their wedding images in print in a bridal magazine or to find out that their image has won an award.

In regards to video we never publish any embarrassing moments we may happen to capture on film and talk to you personally about your preferences if we capture less than admirable comments from your guests.

What kind of albums do you offer?

What kind of albums do you offer?

We offer custom designed coffee table style books and flush mount albums. We also offer full coverage packages that include the albums with them and our basic full wedding coverage package does not have an album included with it. Albums can always be purchased at a later date after the wedding or not at all if you would like to do your own.

Advantages of choosing a package with an album included is that you will have us working on your album right away after the busy season. You also get the album with all of the benefits included in the larger packages for less than what you would pay purchasing it ala carte after the wedding.

When will we get our final album?

When will we get our final album?

For packages with albums included or ordered after the event, we involve our clients in the production. After the client has given us their album selections we design a draft of the album and place it in their online wedding gallery for them to view. We go through changes to the book until they are satisfied (3 - Free Rounds of Changes, $25 per a round thereafter) upon final approval it takes 2-3 weeks for the book to return from the binders. Most of our album production is completed during our off season (November thru March). Estimate of the time-frame will be given upon receiving your image selections for the book. If we have not received your image selection by December of the current year your event was hosted during we will reach out to request and give you a time-frame to get those choices to us. If you can not meet that deadline we will start creating a first draft for you after that time period is up. Winter is our slow time of year and when we can dedicate time to creating albums, so we can not wait until the busy season to work on them since we sometimes have 20 or more albums to create.
